BIOG

andyAndy Morgan - Guitar, bouzouki, cittern and vocals

I was born just outside of Swansea in Gorseinon and have been playing guitar and singing since I was 16. My musical influences are completely varied from rock through to world music, but have found that the music I prefer to listen to now is by real musicians preferably by people I know. I formed and fronted the Celtic music duo, Burning Cell for 10 years. We played extensively around Wales and the West Country also had a long stay in Brittany, where we went to do one gig and ended up staying for 6 months. Whilst there, I played a lot around Northern Brittany, particularly Rennes, Dinard, Dinan and St. Malo. I also did two French tours with Burning Cell in 1996 & 1997. After taking a break from playing live for two years, I fronted with Viil the Alt Country band Ridgebacks. I then formed Stonecraft together with Viil in early summer 2005, and after Charlie joined in July, my music returned full circle back to the Celtic style with a bit of Bluegrass and Alt Country thrown in for good measure. Whilst not Stonecrafting I’m busy teaching classical and acoustic styles on the guitar.

villViil Fjøse - Vocals, guitar and harmonica

I was born in Bergen, Norway where I developed a love for singing through being a member of various choirs. After leaving school in 1993, I studied music for a year with vocal as main instrument at Toneheim Folkehøyskole in Hamar, Norway. I moved to Swansea in 1997 and intended to stay for a year studying at Swansea University, the plans changed after meeting Andy and I haven’t left. After a number of years of trying out different choirs around Swansea Andy and I joined the Ridgebacks and gigged around Swansea. Although my vocal background was classical choir music, I have also been influenced by folk music all my life through family tradition.
